Winter rapeseed in Rivne region 10% completed

Farms in Rivne region have started winter rapeseed sowing. The oilseed crop has been planted on more than 3.5 thou. ha, accounting for 10% of the planned areas, Rivne Region State Administration reports.

"Fieldworks for the country's next crop have started. Preparations are underway for winter crops sowing campaign including soil preparation, seeds, fertilizers and crop protection products supply," the report reads.

As of August 14, early grains and legumes harvesting was close to completion. Despite the unfavourable weather conditions, 95% of early grains (wheat, barley, rye, triticale, oats and peas) have been harvested. The crop harvested has reached 740 thou. t using the average yield of 4 t/ha.

Winter rapeseed has been threshed on 36 thou. ha or 100% of the planned areas. The new harvest totalled 92 thou. ha using the average yield of 2.58 t/ha.

As a reminder, rapeseed yielded 2.51 t/ha in Dnipropetrovsk region as of August 6.
