Food wheat exports reach 3.9 mln t in July-Aug

Grain export from Ukraine since the start of the 2020/21(July-June) season has reached 7.97 mln t: July-August shipment of wheat stood at 5.16 mln t (including apx. 3.9 mln t of food wheat and 1.3 mln t of feed), barley 2.13 mln t, corn 543 thou. t, the Department of Phytosanitary Security, Control in Seed Production and Seedling of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection reports.

In July-August 2019/20, staple grains export shipment stood at 9.37 mln t: 5.44 mln t of wheat (3.74 mln t of food and 1.7 mln t of feed), 2.1 mln t of barley, 1.65 mln t of corn.

Oilseed crops supply in the first two months of the new season made up 1.08 mln t, including 1.02 mln of rapeseed, 48 thou. t of soybean. In July-August 2019/20, oilseeds shipment amounted to 1.63 mln t: 1.33 mln t of rapeseed, 300 thou. t of soybean.

As a reminder, the Ministry for the Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and grain market participants signed the Annex to the Memorandum of Understanding on 17 Aug setting the limit for wheat export from Ukraine in the 2020/21 season at 17.5 mln t, rye 1 thou. t.

In the 2019/20 season, grains, pulses and flour export from Ukraine totalled the record 57.2 mln t, 6.8 mln t higher YoY (2018/19: 50.4 mln t).

Since the start of 2020/21, staple grains export shipment from Ukraine has reached 7.05 mln t. As of August 31, agricultural commodities shipment dropped by 1.71 mln t (20%) from the prior year's comparative period.
