Sowing Online 2020/21: sunflower 50% planted in Ukraine

As of May 6, spring grain and leguminous crops were planted on 4.37 mln ha in Ukraine, which makes up 58% of the planned 7.52 mln ha, the data of the Sowing Online project show.

Early grains and legumes sowing has been completed in 14 regions. 11 of 18 sugar beet production regions have finalized the campaign.

Planted areas in Ukraine as of the reporting date:

  • wheat: 172.2 thou. ha or 98% of the planned 176.6 thou. ha
  • barley: 1.33 mln ha, 95% of 1.39 mln ha
  • oats: 185.39 thou. ha, 96% of 194.05 thou. ha
  • peas: 226.44 thou. ha, 96% of 235.4 thou. ha
  • sugar beet: 223.07 thou. ha, 98% of 226.9 thou. ha
  • corn: 2.43 mln ha, 46% of 5.33 mln ha
  • sunflower: 3.18 mln ha, 50% of 6.4 mln ha
  • soybean: 254.8 thou. ha, 18% of 1.4 mln ha
  • buckwheat: 19.04 thou. ha, 24% of 79.6 thou. ha
  • millet: 7.29 thou. ha, 6% of 116.8 thou. ha

Grains bulk yield in Ukraine in 2021 is forecasted 8.8% higher YoY by the National Scientific Center Institute of Agrarian Economics.
