Oilseed processing plant to be constructed in Khmelnytsky region

A greenfield oilseed processing plant will be built in Horodok town in Khmelnytsky region. Its designed annual crushing capacity is 620,000 t of sunflower and 264,000 t of soybeans, the public organization Ukrainian Green Power informs.

The new plant will apply an innovative oilseed processing technology developed at the Potoky plant, a subsidiary of Alef Corporation, in Dnipro.

"The Dnipro Potoky plant has established itself as a successful and socially responsible enterprise. It is a Ukrainian plant equipped with innovative technologies and state-of-the-art machinery. The successful production model has motivated us to start another such plant in Ukraine," commented Yevhen Yarovyi, director of the Potoky plant.

As at the Dnieper plant, a biomass power plant will also be built at the new facility. It will run on pellets produced from sunflower husk. The capacity of the bio combined heat and power station (CHP) will be 20 MW, making it one of the most powerful biofuel power plants in Ukraine.

The plant is scheduled to be completed in mid-2023.

Kernel is also constructing a crushing plant in Khmelnytsky region, Starokostiantyniv crushing plant. Its annual processing capacity is 1 mln t of oilseeds. The construction works started in spring 2019.
