First new crop shipments quality considerably worse from last year's: G.R. Agro
First shipments of new crop barley delivered to G.R. Agro's grain elevators are of lower quality than last year's crop.
On 25 June, Ingulets Grain Elevator received the first delivery of winter barley. The average quality indicators:
- moisture content: 14.5%
- black dockage: 2%
- natural weight: 559 g/dm³
The company specialists mark that the first deliveries of the 2021 crop contained at least 5% of darkened grains as a result of continuous rainfall ahead of the harvesting period.
In 2020, the first winter barley shipment was received on 24 June. Last year's initial quality indicators:
- moisture content: 12.5%
- black dockage: 2%
- natural weight: 625.5 g/dm³
"The start of this barley supply season shows a low bulk density of grain. There have been cases of a consignment coming in with a value of 523 g/dm³. Last year, barley was of a much higher quality. The content of small grain is over 5%," comments Liubov Gipot, head of the laboratory at G.R. Agro's Pryshyb Grain Elevator.
Previously reported that barley harvesting in Kherson region started at an average yield of 3.25 t/ha.
