New crop sunflower processing started in Ukraine

Oilseed processing plants in Ukraine have started crushing sunflowerseeds of the 2021 harvest. The enterprises are reported by the Association Ukroilprom to ensure regular supplies of sunflowerseed oil to retail networks and pursue a balanced approach to price formation.
As per preliminary data, sunflowerseed oil export from Ukraine reached 5.28 mln t, corresponding to 98.1% of the total volume of sunoil shipment agreed for export in the 2020/21(September2020-August 2021) season in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Economy Ministry and Association.
The State Consumer Protection Service informs that Phoma rot (Phota oleracea Sass.) is observed in up to 48% of sunflower crops in Ukraine this season.
As of 2 September, the sunflower harvest in Ukraine covered 78.2 thou. ha and resulted in 138.8 thou. t of new crop. The average yield was 1.76 t/ha.
Crushing plants in Ukraine finalized the 2020/21 season ahead of schedule.
The Health Ministry of Ukraine adopted the maximum permissible levels for chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl in agricultural products and foodstuffs, including sunflower and sunflower oil.
