Pork products export from Ukraine 16% higher in 8M 2021
Pork products shipment from Ukraine generated USD 10.62 mln of export revenue in 8M 2021 having exceeded the previous year's comparative period indicator, the Pig Breeders Association reports with reference to the data of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
In January-August 2021, 2.9 thou. t of pork was exported from Ukraine worth USD 5.76 mln. The volume of export shipment is more than a thousand tons higher year-on-year and brought USD 1.5 mln or 16% more export revenue.

- Georgia: 6.8%
The most popular export positions in January-August were frozen briskets (45.3% of total exports), frozen shoulders and cuts (18.5%), other frozen boneless pork (17.9%).
"The volume of export of live pigs for slaughter to Georgia increased fourfold in 8M 2021, 1.38 thou. t of livestock were sold there which brought USD 2.02 mln of foreign exchange earnings. Last year's deliveries during the corresponding period totalled 0.33 thou. t in live weight," the report reads.
In the reporting period, the export of other frozen pork by-products resulted in USD 2.84 mln of foreign exchange earnings. This is USD 0.5 mln more than in the same period of 2020, despite the reduction in the volume of shipments of these products. In particular, in January-August, domestic exporters sent abroad 3.9 thou. t of frozen offal against 4.37 thou. t in 8M 2020.
For context, 11 cases of African swine fever (ASF) have been registered in Ukraine since the start of 2021. 28 outbreaks were reported in 2020, 53 in 2019, and 145 in 2018.
