MHP's Perutnina Ptuj invested EUR 4.5 mln in seven production facilities in Serbia

An MHP Slovenian subsidiary, Perutnina Ptuj (PP), invested more than EUR 4.5 mln in seven broiler production facilities in the town of Bačka Topola in Serbia.

The new sites were built to comprehensively manage the production chain "farm-to-fork". 30 new jobs will be created with the start of the operation.

Yuriy Kosyuk's MHP says in a statement that the facilities were built in accordance with strict international construction, environmental standards and modern technologies, ensuring efficient, safe and humane poultry breeding. The capacity of the first phase is 2 mln broilers per year.

The new poultry production facilities are equipped with modern fattening systems and guarantee total biological security. Monitoring of all key parameters at these sites is accurate and continuous with fully automated control systems. They are equipped with technologies to monitor animal growth as well as air temperature and humidity, the message reads.

As explained by the company, Serbia is the key market for Perutnina Ptuj in the Balkans, hence the decision was made to invest in the company's production infrastructure in this country to gain an important competitive advantage and manage the entire production cycle for a stable supply to customers.

"The opening of seven new poultry production sites is but the beginning of the investment cycle. The next step is the opening of additional facilities for the development of agricultural facilities in Bachka-Topola," MHP says in a statement.

As a reminder, MHP plans to invest around EUR 35 mln in the production capacity of its Serbian subsidiary.
