Continental completes delayed spring sowing and planting of potatoes

Continental Farmers Group (CFG) has completed the sowing of spring crops. During this campaign, the company sowed all the planned areas, which are more than 104 thou. ha.

This year's crops include traditional — sunflower, corn, soybeans and rapeseed, as well as sugar beet and buckwheat, which are important for the country's food security. Potatoes planting was completed on more than 2 thou. ha.

"The works on all the tracts are completed. Thanks to teamwork, we managed to sow the allocated areas within the acceptable agronomic timeframe. This year's sowing campaign had its challenges. Due to prolonged rains and low temperatures, the work was carried out intermittently, and the completion of the sowing campaign was slightly delayed. However, the favourable weather forecast for the near future will allow us to compensate for the shift in the calendar and eventually reach the planned phases of crop development. We are determined to get uniform sprouts in all areas," said Georg von Nolcken, CEO of Continental.

The company has moved on to the next agricultural operations, including the application of plant protection products and inter-row cultivation. The next step is to prepare for the harvest.

For the 2023 harvest, Continental sowed an area of over 185 thou. ha.
