A pea-based bioglue plant opens in Zhytomyr region, with another to be built in Zakarpattia

A new plant producing pea-based bioglue has launched operations in the Korosten Industrial Park in Zhytomyr region. The total investment in the project amounts to €40 million, deputy head of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Development Dmytro Kysylevskyi reported on Facebook.

Bioglue is used in the production of eco-friendly wooden boards for the construction and furniture industries.

According to Kysylevskyi, the facility will require 1 million tons of peas annually — more than double Ukraine’s total pea harvest in 2024.

The project’s investor, Korosten MDF Plant, is currently holding consultations with farmers in Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, and Dnipropetrovsk regions regarding the expansion of planting areas and long-term pea supply contracts.

The plant’s projected capacity is 3,000 tons of bioglue per month. Planned production of eco-boards stands at 20,000 cubic meters per month. At the same time, the company is building a similar facility in the BF Terminal Industrial Park in Zakarpattia. Around 90% of the eco-boards are expected to be exported.

The Korosten Industrial Park covers an area of 42.2 hectares and brings together a cluster of wood-processing companies, including the Ukrainian Holding Sawmill Company, Rezalt Eco, Korosten MDF Plant, BF Engineering, and BF Project.

Last autumn, as part of the state program for industrial park infrastructure development, Korosten Industrial Park received a co-financed grant of UAH 83.5 million (50/50 from the state) to construct an access road.
