Marcopolo Commodities defers opening a representative office in Ukraine

Trading company Marcopolo Commodities deferred the opening of a representative office in Ukraine for an indefinite period but continues its operations in the country. This was informed by Elena NerobaHead of Data & Analytics at MarcoPolo Commodities.

“Taking into account the Ukrainian realities, working in the national currency brings risks and reduces margins. This season we continue on CPT/FOB in currency, of course. We work for the final customer and we postpone the opening of the Ukrainian office for now,” said Elena Neroba.

According to her, Marcopolo Commodities in the Black Sea region decided to focus on grain crops, corn being the priority.

“We plan to contract 300 thou. tons of corn by the end of this marketing year. So far we maintain this pace,” commented Elena Neroba.

She added that the company decided to address the small consignment segment. “We have changed our plans regarding Ukraine a bit and decided to trade in the small consignments segment. So far, our main port is Mykolaiv, the average ticket is 7-10 thou. tons. Shipments are made to Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, Italy,” explained the head of data & analytics at Marcopolo Commodities.

Previously Elena Neroba projected the price situation for main crops.
