Staple grains shipment in seaports increased, wheat demonstrated the highest rate

In the week of Nov. 23–29, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 1.24 mln t, 7% higher from the previous week's figure (1.17 mln t), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

In the reporting period, the volume of wheat exports boosted 32% to 343 thou. t vs. 259 thou. t in the previous week. At the same time, the export of corn increased by 5% and amounted to 857 thou. t, while barley shipments dropped 2x to 41 thou. t.

The top three importers of grain in the past week are as followed:

  • China — 257 thou. t;
  • Spain — 207 thou. t;
  • Iran — 93 thou. t.

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (8.67 mln t). The port of Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) provided for the transshipment of 4.87 mln t, and Chernomorsk — 4.75 mln t.

Since the start of 2019/20, Ukraine has exported 24.81 mln t of staple grains. As of December 2nd, commodities shipment increased by 6.01 mln t from the comparative period of the previous year.
