Grain export by seaports down 6 pct

In the week of Jan. 4-10, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 1.12 mln t, 6% lower from the previous week's figure (1.19 mln t), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

In the reporting period, the volume of wheat exports dropped 11% to 225 thou. t vs. the previous week's 253 thou. t. Corn shipment reduced by 3% and amounted to 855 thou. t. Barley transshipment scaled down by 15% wk/wk to 39 thou. t.

The top three importers of grain in the past week are as followed:

  • South Korea — 186 thou. t;
  • China — 111 thou. t;
  • Turkey — 96 thou. t.

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (10.81 mln t). The port of Chernomorsk provided for the transshipment of 6.75 mln t, and Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) — 6.23 mln t.

Previously reported that NIBULON exported around 5.3 mln t of agricultural commodities in 2019. The company managed to set another record, having increased the 10-years one by 8%.
