Astarta-Kyiv sugar production declined 14 pct

In 2019/20, Astarta-Kyiv plants processed 1.9 mln t of sugar beet and produced 301.5 thou. t of sugar. Beet sugar production in the current season declined 14.3% (50.5 thou. t) vs. 352 thou. t in 2018/19.

As reported, in the production season 2019, the company's plants produced 22% of sugar from the total output of the product in Ukraine.

According to the Scientific and Practical Center of Beet Sugar Production, the share of Astarta-Kyiv in the total sugar production is 20.4%.

The company informs that the share of the highest category sugar increased to 95.5% of total production (in 2018: 86%), including a 37% increase in higher-quality sugar production to 75.6 thou. t.

"Our enterprises worked under "field-plant" scheme that helped to minimize storage time of sugar beet and increase qualitative and quantitative indicators of raw materials and sugar itself. In general, we see that the sugar market has been balanced, so we have positive expectations for the future," said Valery Sokolenko, Executive Director of the agro-industrial holding Astarta-Kyiv.

Earlier it was reported that the company's sugar sales in 4Q 2019 increased by 16% to 60.87 thou. t. The average realized price is up 1% to UAH 9.701 thou.
