January ag commodities export intensified by 14 pct

January exports of agricultural commodities from Ukraine reached USD 1.98 bln, 14% more from January 2019.

As informed by the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, agricultural products account for 48% of the total January exports from Ukraine.

"Ukraine demonstrates positive dynamics in the agro-industrial complex products export, in particular, due to increase of crop yields, growth of agricultural production, demand for Ukrainian products from foreign consumers and opening of new sales markets. The largest share of agricultural exports is represented by grains — 48% and oilseeds — 23%. However, we are gradually increasing the volume of supplies of finished, niche and organic products," states Taras Vysotsky, Deputy Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The key markets for Ukraine in January include the following countries:

  • China — 10.2% of the total supply;
  • Egypt — 10.1%;
  • Spain — 8%;
  • the Netherlands — 8%;
  • Turkey — 6.6.%.

As a reminder, staple grains export from Ukraine has reached 38.99 mln t since the start of 2019/20 (July 2019 – June 2020).
