Grains and oilseeds storage capacity in Ukraine fully sufficient — opinion

Currently, the storage capacity of grains and oilseeds in Ukraine is fully sufficient, and the port infrastructure meets the needs of export grain storage, taking into account the facilities that will be put into operation in 2020, Elevatorist.com reports.

"We can hardly say that there is a lack of storage capacity in Ukraine. In 2020, according to our estimates, the facilities will provide for handling and shipment of apx. 96 mln t of grains and oilseeds. Obviously, if the railroad manages the yield projected," said Vitalii Halych, Commercial Director of Grain Capital Company.

According to him, in the future, there is a possible shortage of elevator capacity, but its occurrence depends on many factors. First of all, the trends in the elevator sphere will be dependent on the land market. The expert assumes that with the opening of the land market the construction of small farm-type elevators will start.

As a reminder, the total grain storage capacity of enterprises in Ukraine increased to 51 mln t in 2019.
