Winter crops sown area reduced 11% from previous season

As of Dec. 14, agriproducers in Ukraine conducted sowing of winter crops for the harvest 2021 on 8.07 mln ha accounting for 98% of the planned 8.2 mln ha. Winter crops cover 1 mln ha or 11% less areas from the 2019 season (9.08 mln ha).

As provided by the data of the Sowing Online 2020/21 project, planting progress on the reporting date reached the following indicators by crops:

  • wheat: 6.1 mln ha, 100% of the planned areas, 8% less from 2019 (6.65 mln ha)
  • barley: 954.7 thou. ha, 101% of 946.3 thou. ha, 10% less (1.06 mln ha)
  • rye: 125.2 thou. ha, 94% of 133.2 thou. ha, 9% less (115 thou. ha)
  • rapeseed: 881.1 thou. ha, 87% of 1.01 mln ha. 30% less (1.25 mln ha)

As of December 14, agriproducers in Ukraine harvested 83.8 mln t of main crops on 24.1 mln ha, of which grains and legumes total 65.4 mln t harvested on 15.3 mln ha, making up 99% of the planned areas.
