Ukrlandfarming started winter crops top-dressing

Ukrlandfarming agroholding started a complex of spring field works. Winter crops are being actively top dressed. As of early March, 100% of winter rapeseed in Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions was fertilized with ammonium sulphate and nitrate, and about 65% of winter wheat was top-dressed with ammonium nitrate.

"To facilitate tillering, we fertilized wheat, which entered winter underdeveloped. This is why we applied the planned fertilizer only partially. The second part of the fertilizer will be applied at the beginning of the booting phase to form a full ear," commented Volodymyr Fantuh, deputy director general of Ukrlandfarming for agroinnovation.

For higher yields, about 4,000 ha will be fertilized once with planters at the beginning of the booting phase, he said.

Volodymyr Fantuh noted that in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, top-dressing is also carried out based on the phase of plant development.

"The rational approach to this agro-technological operation is based on application of fertilizer in the tillering phase and the next one in the ear formation stage. To date, the holding has treated more than 26 thou. ha in Kherson region and 6 thou. ha in Mykolaiv region," added Volodymyr Fantuh.

As reported, some of the winter wheat areas that were sown after fallow preceding crops and entered the winter well-developed will only be fertilized for the formation of a solid ear.

All farms of the holding are fully supplied with fertilizers, but due to snow cover of 10-30 cm in other regions, winter fertilizers have not yet been applied.

Ukrlandfarming completely abandoned the usage of chlorpyriphos having replaced it with an insecticide from another group.
