July grain stocks in Ukraine 3% down YoY: state statistics

Grains and pulses stocks in Ukraine as of July 1 amounted to 5.39 mln t, 3% or 142.3 thou. t down YoY (July 1, 2020: 5.53 mln t), the State Statistics Service data shows.

Wheat stocks as of the reporting date made up 1.74 mln t, 4% higher YoY, or by 65 thou. t. At the enterprises engaged in storage and processing, grain reserves amounted to 559.3 thou. t, and at agricultural producers' facilities 1.18 mln t.

Under the statistical data, corn stocks were 13% up from last year's and amounted to 2.29 mln t (July 1, 2020: 2.03 mln t), including 1.56 mln t accumulated by agricultural producers, and 927.3 thou. t at enterprises engaged in storage and processing.

Barley stocks in Ukraine in the reporting period reduced by 24% from last year's and amounted to 1.07 mln t: at the enterprises engaged in storage and processing, stocks of barley amounted to 575.2 thou. t, and at agricultural producers' facilities 494.1 thou. t.

Rye stocks grew by 1.9x and made up 93.3 thou. t: 56.9 thou. t at specialized storage facilities and 36.4 thou. t at agricultural producers' storages.

As of July 1, sunflower stocks stood at 943.8 thou. t (July 1, 2020: 1.43 mln t) or 34% lower, including 384.6 thou. t stored by agricultural producers, and 559.2 thou. t at enterprises engaged in storage and processing.

Soybean stocks in Ukraine dropped by 10% YoY to 302.9 thou. t. On the reporting date last year, soybean stocks totalled 338.4 thou. t. Agricultural enterprises stored 183.8 thou. t. Enterprises specializing in processing and storage kept 119.1 thou. t of the oilseed crop.

Rapeseed stocks reduced by 74% to 46 thou. t (July 1, 2020: 179.8 thou. t): 3.9 thou. t at specialized storage and processing facilities and 42.1 thou. t at agricultural producers' storages.

In the crop year 2020, agriproducers in Ukraine harvested 83.8 mln t of main crops on 24.1 mln ha, of which grains and legumes total 65.4 mln t harvested on 15.3 mln ha, making up 99% of the planned areas.

In its July report, the USDA projects wheat production in Ukraine another 0.5 mln t higher in 2021/22, corn production projection was left unchanged. The USDA projects the world soybean production at 385.22 mln t in 2021/22, export at 172.85 mln t. Sunflower production projection for 2021/22 was improved to 56.99 mln t, sunflowerseed oil output was revised upward to 21.79 mln t.
