Ukrzaliznytsia in September transported 10-year high volume of grain
In September 2021, Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) transported 3.8 mln t of grain cargo, a record for the last 10 years.
As informed by Alexander Zaruba, director for commercial work and logistics of Ukrzaliznytsia, it was possible through the coordinated work and efficient management of transportation.
"In 2019-20, grain transportation was conducted according to clearly defined traffic schedule, based on unit trains plan. This affected the quality and speed of transportation of other cargoes such as iron ore, coal, etc. This year we abandoned such practice as we need to satisfy all customers on equal terms, regardless of the type of cargo. But thanks to the strengthening of dispatching work and freight stations, we have already managed to achieve the best result of grain shipment since 2011," he explains.
UZ has the capacity to export a record amount of grain this year, in his view.
In September, Ukrzaliznytsia loaded an average of 118.9 thou. t of grain every day, 30.6% above September 2020, and 10.6% more than in September 2019.
As a reminder, Alexander Kamyshin was appointed the acting Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia in August 2021.
