Spring crops planted on 603 thou. ha in Ukraine: Agrarian Ministry

As of April 1, spring crops planting in Ukraine for the country's 2022 crop is projected to be conducted on 13.44 mln ha of controlled territory, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reports.

The current season's planted area is 3.47 mln ha short from 2021. 21 regions have joined the campaign, whereas in 2021 sowing of spring crops was started in 15 regions.

Spring crops planted on the reporting date (thou. ha):

  • wheat: 81
  • barley: 327.3
  • rapeseed: 7.6
  • oats: 50.1
  • peas: 62.3
  • sugar beet: 30.6
  • sunflower: 33.7
  • soybean: 10.4

For the country's 2022 crop, winter grains and rapeseed were sown on 7.7 mln ha, 0.4 mln ha more from the 2021 sown area:

  • wheat and triticale: 6.5 mln ha, 0.4 mln ha more from 2021
  • rapeseed: 1.024 mln ha, 143 thou. ha more
  • barley: 1 mln ha, 45 thou. ha more
  • rye: 159 thou. ha, 34 thou. ha more
