Grain shipment in seaports intensified 40 pct

In the week of Nov. 9–15, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 1.3 mln t, 41% higher wk/wk (930 thou. t), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

In the reporting period, the volume of wheat exports practically remained at the level of last week — 476 thou. t vs. 491 thou. t in the previous week. At the same time, the export of corn increased almost twofold and amounted to 789 thou. t, while barley shipments increased by 54% — to 7 thou. t.

The top three importers of grain in the past week are as followed:

  • Egypt — 163 thou. t;
  • the Netherlands — 148 thou. t;
  • Indonesia — 121 thou. t.

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (7.905 mln t). The port of Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) provided for the transshipment of 4.261 mln t, and Chernomorsk — 4.258 mln t.

In October 2019/20, Ukraine exported 2.9 mln t of wheat, a record volume of the grain for this month, which exceeds the last year’s October exports by 33%.
