Sowing Online 2019/20: soybean, buckwheat and millet campaigns not complete

As of June 11, early spring grain, leguminous and industrial crops in Ukraine were sown on an area of 15.44 mln ha or 99% of the planned 15.56 mln ha.

Sown areas by spring crops are as follows:

  • buckwheat: 68.01 thou. ha, 91% of 75 thou. ha;
  • millet: 59.7 thou. ha, 77% of 78.01 thou. ha;
  • sunflower: 6.14 mln ha, 99% of 6.2 mln ha;
  • soybean: 1.41 mln ha, 97% of 1.45 mln ha.

Agriproducers finalized planting of spring wheat (184.53 thou. ha), spring barley (1.52 mln ha), oats (186.35 thou. ha), peas (282.71 thou. ha), corn (5.38 mln ha) and sugar beet (209.01 thou. ha).

Grain production decline in 2020/21(July-June), according to the June USDA report, is expected in the EU by 2 mln t to 141 mln t and in Ukraine by 1.5 mln t to 26.5 mln t.
