Grain export 2019/20: wheat shipment beyond the limit

Since the start of 2019/20, grain export shipment from Ukraine has reached 56.2 mln t.

As of June 26, agricultural commodities shipment increased by 6.63 mln t (13.4%) from the prior year's comparative period, 49.58 mln t, the data of the Directorate of Agrarian Sector Development of the Economy Ministry show.

Grain export structure in the reporting period is as follows:

  • wheat — 20.4 mln t(the agreed limit was 20.2 mln t) (31% or 4.83 mln t more y-o-y);
  • barley — 4.98 mln t (41% or 1.45 mln t more y-o-y);
  • corn — 30.12 mln t (1.3% or 391 thou. t more y-o-y);
  • rye — 8.2 thou. t (91% or 80.0 thou. t less y-o-y).

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and grain market participants will be signed on July 1 to ensure the projected grain export volume in the 2020/21 season.

The Economy Ministry is estimating the grain harvest 2020 at over 68 mln t vs. the previously announced forecast of 65-68 mln t.
