State food safety service urges EU to drop poultry export restrictions imposed on Ukraine
In consideration of the relevant EU legislation and the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code (TAHC), there are no cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Ukraine, the head of the International Cooperation Department of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) Olena Kuriata said.
On September 23-24, 2020 an online meeting of the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed (PAFF Committee) was held. The meeting of the Committee was attended by representatives of all EU member states and representatives of the European Commission.
Olena Kuriata indicated that the basic measures to control and prevent the spread of this disease on the territory of Ukraine were carried out. Also, statistical data on conducted monitoring and laboratory tests were presented to the meeting participants.
As reported, given this, Olena Kuriata appealed to EU member states to take the appropriate decision to lift the restrictions imposed on Ukraine.
