Grain export 2020/21: wheat supply close to 11 mln t
Staple grains export shipment from Ukraine has made up 17.13 mln t since the start of the 2020/21 season. As of Nov. 6, agricultural commodities shipment dropped by 2.92 mln t or 14.5% from the prior year's comparative period, 20.05 mln t, the information-analytical portal of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine reports.
Grain export structure in the reporting period:
- wheat: 10.91 mln t, ▼8% or 959 thou. t y-o-y
- barley: 3.38 mln t, ▲0.5% or 17 thou. t y-o-y
- corn: 2.77 mln t, ▼39% or 1.8 mln t y-o-y
- rye: 1.7 thou. t, ▼66% or 3.3 thou. t y-o-y
As a reminder, the Ministry for the Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and grain market participants signed the Annex to the Memorandum of Understanding on Aug. 17, setting the limit for wheat export from Ukraine in the 2020/21 season at 17.5 mln t, rye at 1 thou. t. As of the reporting date, 59% of the agreed volume of wheat export was shipped.
In the 2019/20 season, grains, pulses and flour export from Ukraine totalled the record 57.2 mln t, 6.8 mln t higher YoY (2018/19: 50.4 mln t).
Previously reported that the Food and Agriculture Organization lowered its corn production forecasts in the European Union (EU) and Ukraine, where continued adverse weather has further reduced yield prospects.
