Asia and Africa imported half of total Ukraine's grain shipment in 2020

In 2020, the bulk of staple grains shipment from Ukraine was imported by the countries of Asia and Africa, informed the Head of Expert Group at UBTA Oleksandra Avramenko in the framework of the fifth anniversary presentation of the Agrarian Portfolio-2021 research, AgroPolit.com reports.

As reported, Asia accounts for 25.2% of the total grain supply from Ukraine in 2020, Africa for 24.4%. Europe purchased 19.5% of Ukrainian grain, of which 19.3% was imported by the EU countries.

According to Oleksandra Avramenko, there are 1,908 companies in Ukraine that supply grains to foreign markets, their share in the total shipment is 43%.

UBTA analysts assess the prospect of Ukrainian grain supplies to the Middle East as a particularly promising direction. In 2020, Ukraine sold 16.8% of its agricultural products to the Middle East.

Since the start of 2021/22, grain export from Ukraine has made up 10.48 mln t, 11% up YoY.
