Sugar production 2018/19: top Ukrainian companies

By the results of MY2018/19, the Food Company Podillya (Kryzhopil Sugar Refinery) produced the largest volume of sugar among the Ukrainian sugar mills — 170.97 thou. tons.

The National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrsugar) reports that the top-10 sugar producers in the reporting period are as follows:

  1. the FC Podillya (Kryzhopil Sugar Refinery) — 170.97 thou. tons of sugar, 1 248.73 thou. tons of processed sugar beet;
  2. UKRPROMINVEST-AGRO (the FC Zorya Podillya, Gaisyn Sugar Refinery) — 120.80 thou. tons (940.74 thou. tons);
  3. Radekhiv Sugar (Radekhiv branch) — 108.49 thou. tons (802.39 thou. tons);
  4. Radekhiv Sugar (Chortkiv branch) — 88.36 thou. tons (636.39 thou. tons);
  5. Radekhiv Sugar (Khorostkiv branch) — 78.97 thou. tons (571.76 thou. tons);
  6. Yareskivsky Sugar Plant (Astarta-Kyiv) — 77.12 thou. tons (500.96 thou. tons);
  7. Gnidava Sugar Plant — 71.73 thou. tons (457.66 thou. tons);
  8. Narkevitskiy Sugar Plant (Astarta-Kyiv) — 70.12 thou. tons (505.74 thou. tons);
  9. Salivonkivsky Sugar Plant (Svitanok) — 67.75 thou. tons (521.49 thou. tons);
  10. Zhdaniv Sugar Plant (Astarta-Kyiv) — 58.17 thou. tons (411.61 thou. tons).

"Astarta-Kyiv has secured its leading position: the holding's enterprises manufacture 19 pct of the total sugar production. Last year, this indicator reached 23 pct. Radekhiv Sugar which compared with last year reduced its share of the total production from 21 pct to 18pct, holds the second position. The third position is taken by UKRPROMINVEST-AGRO, which has increased its presence in the domestic market from 12pct  to 15 pct," commented Ruslana Butylo, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Ukrsugar and the key-note speaker of the Sugar World 2019 conference.

In MY2018/19, the Ukrainian mills produced 1.82 million tons of beet sugar which is 15 pct lower y-o-y.
