Seaports in Ukraine upheld grains shipment pace wk/wk

In the week of Nov. 16–22, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 1.36 mln t, which roughly corresponds to the previous week's figure (1.34 mln t), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

In the reporting period, the volume of wheat exports reduced by 17% to 416 thou. t vs. 499 thou. t in the previous week. At the same time, the export of corn increased by 9% and amounted to 859 thou. t, while barley shipments increased by 62% — to 81 thou. t.

The top three importers of grain in the past week are as followed:

  • Egypt — 327 thou. t;
  • Turkey — 231 thou. t;
  • China — 104 thou. t.

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (8.32 mln t). The port of Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) provided for the transshipment of 4.57 mln t, and Chernomorsk — 4.53 mln t.

As a reminder, in the period of November 8–14, 437.7 thou. t of wheat were delivered to foreign markets from the USA under the USDA data. This indicator is 83% higher from the volume of shipments in the preceding week.
