Ukraine's Feb 8-14 sea port staple grains shipment up 1.5x wk/wk

In the week of Feb. 8-14, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 1.17 mln t, 54% higher from the previous week (755 thou. t), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

Wheat export shipment surged 53% in the reporting period and amounted to 205 thou. t vs. the previous week's 134 thou. t. Corn exports scaled up by 46% to 888 thou. t. Barley shipment intensified 5x wk/wk and totalled 74 thou. t.

The top three importers of grain in the past week are as followed:

  • Egypt — 204 thou. t;
  • the Netherlands — 171 thou. t;
  • Libya — 130 thou. t.

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (12.35 mln t). The port of Chernomorsk provided for the transshipment of 8.39 mln t, and Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) — 7.18 mln t.

Staple grains export from Ukraine has reached 38.24 mln t since the start of 2019/20 (July 2019 – June 2020). As of Feb. 14, agricultural commodities shipment increased by 7.79 mln t YoY.
