Agriproducers harvested first 100 thou. t of crop 2020

Harvest 2020 is gaining momentum in Ukraine: agriproducers have reported the first 100 thou. t of new crop.

"This year's weather conditions forced this year's harvesting campaign to start earlier than the previous years. Some districts of the southern regions were the first to start threshing," says Taras Vysotsky, deputy minister for economic development, trade and agriculture of Ukraine.

As of June 26, winter crops (barley, wheat, rapeseed) have been harvested on 35.7 thou. ha:

  • Mykolaiv region: 26 thou. ha
  • Kherson: 7.24 thou. ha
  • Odesa: 2.5 thou. ha

The Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine is estimating the grain harvest 2020 at over 68 mln t vs. the previously announced forecast of 65-68 mln t.

Contrasting temperature conditions in Ukraine during the last six weeks have been stressful for most agricultural crops. Winter grains ripening started in the southern, south-eastern and central regions in extremely early terms.
