Key grain markets consider import duty reduction for Ukrainian grain — Deputy Economy Minister

Ukraine's trade representatives are in the process of reducing and lifting duties on grain supplies to a number of countries. This was announced by Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture, Trade Representative of Ukraine, in the framework of Grain Ukraine. Limited Edition 2020 conference.

"The lifting and reduction of duties on grain supply to our trade partners is of great importance. In recent months, we have carried out comprehensive work in the field of duty reduction with a number of countries including Maghreb(Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia), Vietnam, Indonesia, the Middle East, India, China. There have been significant advancements. In particular, we are close to the agreement with Jordan and Tunisia, as well as Egypt is ready to cut duties. Even China is ready to negotiate a preferential agreement," said Taras Kachka.

Indonesia, according to him, has its own specificity: this country is the key market for Ukrainian wheat and it is the leader in phytosanitary notifications issue.

"Here we are moving forward both in grain quality and in paperwork," he said.

In the 2019/20 season, grains, pulses and flour export from Ukraine totalled the record 57.2 mln t, 6.8 mln t higher YoY (2018/19: 50.4 mln t).
