Grain export 2020/21: grain supply made 3.5 mln t

Since the start of 2020/21, staple grains export shipment from Ukraine has reached 3.5 mln t.

As of August 10, agricultural commodities shipment dropped by 1.6 mln t (31.4%) from the prior year's comparative period, 5.1 mln t, the information-analytical portal of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine reports.

Grain export structure in the reporting period:

  • wheat: 1.88 mln t, 249 thou. t or 11.7% y-o-y
  • barley: 1.12 mln t, 243 thou. t or 17.8% y-o-y
  • corn: 498 thou. t, 1.1 mln t or 68.9% y-o-y
  • rye: 0.3 thou. t, 0.3 thou. t or 100% y-o-y

In the 2019/20 season, grains, pulses and flour export from Ukraine totalled the record 57.2 mln t, 6.8 mln t higher YoY (2018/19: 50.4 mln t).

IGC experts revised downward the forecast for global grain production in 2020/21 to 2.23 bln t, 12 mln t lower from the previous forecast (2.24 bln t).

The Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) analysts forecast a new record harvest of cereals and oilseeds in Ukraine — 100 mln t, 1.6% higher from the previous harvest in the 2019/20 season (98.4 mln t). Export in the current season is pegged at 61 mln t (2019/20: 62 mln t).
