Soybean stocks slumped by 18%: state statistics

Grains and pulses stocks in Ukraine as of February 1 dropped to 18.17 mln t, 16% or 3.53 mln t lower YoY (21.69 mln t), the data of the State Statistics Service show.

Wheat stocks as of the reporting date decreased by 12% to 5.13 mln t. At the enterprises engaged in storage and processing, grain reserves amounted to 1.55 mln t, and at agricultural producers' facilities 3.59 mln t.

Under the statistical data, corn stocks were 13% lower from last year's and amounted to 11.47 mln t (Feb 1, 2020: 13.16 mln t), including 6.54 mln t accumulated by agricultural producers, at enterprises engaged in storage and processing 4.9 mln t.

Barley stocks in Ukraine in the reporting period reduced by 49% from last year's and amounted to 903 thou. t: at the enterprises engaged in storage and processing, stocks of barley amounted to 239 thou. t, and at agricultural producers' facilities 665 thou. t.

Rye stocks grew by 1.9x and made up 165 thou. t: 71.1 thou. t at specialized storage facilities and 93.9 thou. t at agricultural producers' storages.

Sunflower reserves stood at 4.3 mln t (Feb 1, 2020: 6.37 mln t) or 32% lower, including 2.26 mln t stored by agricultural producers, and 2.15 mln t at enterprises engaged in storage and processing.

Soybean stocks in Ukraine as of Feb 1, dropped by 18% YoY to 1.04 mln t. On the reporting date last year, soybean stocks totalled 1.27 mln t. Agricultural enterprises stored 671.2 thou. t. Enterprises specializing in processing and storage kept 370 thou. t of the oilseed crop.

Rapeseed stocks reduced by 40% to 61.5 thou. t (Feb 1, 2020: 102.3 thou. t): 13.2 thou. t at specialized storage facilities and 48.3 thou. t at agricultural producers' storages.

As of December 14, 2020, agriproducers in Ukraine harvested 83.8 mln t of main crops on 24.1 mln ha, of which grains and legumes total 65.4 mln t harvested on 15.3 mln ha, making up 99% of the planned areas.

Previously reported that oil crushing facilities in Ukraine are set to import soybeans after local supplies have shrunk and domestic prices have risen.
