Jan-Mar sunflower oil export from Ukraine shrank by 26%: Customs Service

Ukraine exported 1.35 mln t of sunflower oil in January-March 2021, 26% less YoY (Jan-Mar 2020: 1.82 mln t), the data of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

The dollar value worth of sunoil exported is USD 1.49 bln, 13% above the previous year's comparative period (Jan-Mar 2020: USD 1.32 bln).

The largest importing countries:

  1. India: USD 442.31 mln, 29.7% of the total supply
  2. China: USD 264.49 mln, 17.7%
  3. Netherlands: USD 130.55 mln, 8.8%
  4. Spain: USD 120.41 mln, 8.1%
  5. Italy: USD 77.69 mln, 5.2%

In its March report, USDA projects sunflower oil production in Ukraine at 5.92 mln t (1.47 mln t or 20% lower YoY).

The FAO Vegetable Oil Price Index averaged 159.2 points in March, up 11.8 points (or 8.0%) from February and marking its highest level since June 2011.
