Mykolaiv Sea Port largest vegetable oil, second-largest grains handler in 2021

In the ranking of Ukrainian maritime ports, the Port of Mykolaiv holds the top position in terms of grains transshipment volumes in 2021. The port ranks second by the volume of vegetable oils handling.

As reported by the port's authority, cargo transshipment in 2021 made up 29.87 mln t, 99.1% of the handling volume in 2020. The Port of Mykolaiv provided for the shipment of 16% of the total freight turnover in maritime ports of Ukraine in 2021.

In the period January-December 2021, Mykolaiv port operators shipped 2.88 mln t of vegetable oil for export, 36% of the gross volume transshipped in Ukraine.

Grains shipment in the reporting period was slightly lower from 2020 — 12.9 mln t or 97.9% of the volume handled in 2020.

Chemical and mineral fertilizers transshipment in the Port of Mykolaiv totalled 798.87 thou. t in 2021.

In 2020, grains handling in Ukraine's maritime ports stood at 47.3 mln t, 12.2% down on 2019. The Port of Chornomorsk in Odesa region dominated grains transshipment.

Grains export from Ukraine as of Jan. 10 exceeded 33.5 mln t. Since the start of 2021/22, staples export is 23% up YoY.
