Beef supply from Ukraine in Q1 2020 down 30%

In January-March 2020, beef export shipment from Ukraine was worth USD 18.73 mln, 19% less YoY.

The State Customs Service of Ukraine reports that in Q1 2020 export reached 5.47 thou. t, 27% lower from the volume exported in Q1 2019 (7.5 thou. t).

In the reporting period, Ukraine supplied to foreign markets 4.77 thou. t of frozen beef for the amount of USD 16.61 mln. Key importers in the period include:

  • Kazakhstan: 1.42 thou. t, USD 4.93 mln (29.67%);
  • Azerbaijan: 998 t, USD 2.47 mln (20.91%);
  • China: 792 t, USD 2.76 mln (16.6%);
  • other countries: 1.57 thou. t, USD 5.45 mln (32.83%).

Fresh/chilled beef shipment totalled 698 t for the amount of USD 2.13 mln. Main markets in the period include:

  • Belarus: 636 t, USD 1.94 mln (90.98%);
  • Azerbaijan: 48 t, USD 145 thou. (7.15%);
  • Turkey: 13 t, USD 38 thou. (1.58%);
  • other countries: 2.3 t, USD 7 thou. (0.3%).

Previously reported that Ukrainian producers of heat-treated poultry, pork and egg products will be able to obtain permits to export products to the market of the Republic of Singapore.
