Oil and fat products export from Ukraine in Sep-Feb jumped 33%
In September-February 2020/21(September-August), Ukraine exported USD 4.4 bln worth of oil and fat products compared to USD 3.3 bln in the corresponding period of 2019/20, a 33.3% growth, the Association Ukroilprom reports.
"This increase was driven by higher prices for vegetable oils and meal on the global market. The average price at which sunflower oil was exported from Ukraine during this period was USD 1.09 thou. per ton versus USD 731 in the corresponding period of 2019/20 (up 49%)," the association experts said.
In the first half of this season, sunflower oil remained the main export product among other Ukraine's oilseed products, accounting for 77.7% of total shipments worth USD 3.42 bln.
Sunflower meal accounted for 14.4% (USD 634.1 mln), soybean meal 2.9% (USD 128.7 mln), soybean oil 2.4% (USD 105.3 mln) and rapeseed oil 1.9% (USD 86.5 mln).
Oil crushing plants in Ukraine produced 2.67 mln t of unrefined sunflowerseed oil in the period September-January 2020/21. European Transport Stevedoring Company, a Bunge Ukraine subsidiary, produced the highest volume of crude sunflower oil.
Refined sunflower oil totalled 360.6 thou. t. Dnipropetrovsk Oil Extraction Plant, a subsidiary of Bunge Ukraine, produced the largest volume of refined sunoil.
Previously reported that the FAO Vegetable Oil Price Index averaged 147.4 points in February, gaining 8.6 points (or 6.2%) from January and marking its highest level since April 2012.
