Grains and oilseeds export 2020/21 estimated at 46.8 mln t: UGA

The Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) sees no preconditions for exceeding the export limits specified in the annexes to the Memorandum between the Economy Ministry and market participants signed this season.

The association analysts note that grains export pace in 2020/21 is significantly lower from the previous season which is driven by the situation in world markets.

As of 26 April 2021, according to the State Customs Service, grain exports are 12 mln t behind last season's figures, amounting to 37.9 mln t. Wheat export shipment reached 14.8 mln t, 22% less YoY, and corn 29% lower at 18.36 mln t.

UGA expects wheat exports in the current season not higher than 16 mln t, well below the 17.5 mln t agreed on in the MoU Annex.

"Corn exports in the current season will not exceed 22 mln t, which is also below the 24 mln t limit defined in the annex to the MoU. In all, UGA estimates grain and oilseed exports in 2020/21 at 46.8 mln t, compared to 62 mln t exports in the record 2019/20," the association says in a statement.

In the 2021/22 season, the wheat export potential is forecasted at 19.8 mln t (+13%), barley at 4.3 mln t (+1%) and corn at 29.5 mln t (+27%).

Grains bulk yield 2021 in Ukraine is forecast at 70.7 mln t, 8.8% higher YoY (2020: 65 mln t).
